Czech Republic: the search for a high quality chocolate
Eastern European countries don't hold back in proclaiming their passion when it comes to chocolate. This is the case in the Czech Republic, a country where more than half (55%) of the residents repeatedly consume chocolate every week. Note that if the price comes into account, including for men, most Czechs and females in particular, place taste and quality before anything else. Their preference for consumption is divided as follows: - 33% milk chocolate - 27% filled chocolate - 20% dark chocolate - 10% white chocolate - 10% exotic flavored chocolate The sale of fair trade chocolate is also on the increase, although buying chocolate in specialty shops concerns only the final 4% of Czechs.
A Gourmet Chocolate Museum in Prague
Opened in 2008, the Prague Chocolate Museum came from a private initiative of the Van Belle family. It was created two years after the one in Bruges, but two years before the one in Paris ! There, visitors can discover chocolate-making workshops as well as the history of chocolate through the ages. This museum also houses a unique collection of historic packaging. A place for chocolate tasting is obviously accessible inside the exhibition center.
